If I tell her to do something or give her a rule she will kick off at me, throwing herself on the floor and screaming her head off. This isn't just once a day, it's been all day every day for about a week. Today I asked her to put her pens away and she ignored me about 30 times - In the end I sat down with her on the floor for about half an hour and didn't let her leave until she put them away (which she still didn't do.) She went out with my mum and seemed to be pretty bad then too. When we picked her up we took her to the ducks to try and cheer her up, which worked but as soon as we got home and her dinner was ready, she started again and refused to eat.
Amelia is normally a very good child. She always helped me tidy up her toys, got dressed when she was told, went to bed easily. But recently she has turned into a different child. A child who is failing all of the rules which she has always stuck to. I have tried everything with her which has previously worked - Ignoring, comforting, helping her, being strict, being lenient etc and everything is failing. I can tell her to do something 100 times and she will still ignore me.
I'm sure this is just a phase, and if I continue to work through it then she will snap out of it. I ask her what is wrong and she doesn't say anything and even when she gets her own way she will throw a tantrum about it.
How do you deal with your kids tantrums and what works best for you?
