33 weeks pregnant

With only 7 weeks to go, Ezra is now 17.20 inches long - approx the size of pineapple and he now weighs around 4.23lbs! He is losing that 'alien' look as his skin develops more fat underneath it and his bones are now beginning to harden, but his skull will stay soft. His immune system is now fully developed and the amount of amniotic fluid is at it's lowest as baby is taking up all of the room.

I'm starting to really not enjoy being pregnant now - the pains and discomfort are all adding up and people keep reminding me how big I am. I'm really noticing that my bum and my legs are putting on fat and and the bottoms of my legs keep cramping and my muscles are very stiff all the time. I still have bad pain in my coxis as I've yet got
round to seeing the physiotherapist, if I sit in one position for longer then 10 minutes and then move I can feel my bones popping in and out of place which is extremely uncomfortable. I'm sure I have a bottom in my right rib quite a lot, which causes some discomfort too and don't even get me started on the amount of times I wake up during the night to have a dribble of a wee.

I had a phone call from the birth center this week and we made an appointment for me to go and look around and to write up my birth plan - I want to try again for a water birth and would normally not be aloud in the birthing center as I had complications with my labour with Amelia, but I think they are going to let me as long as I have a drip ready incase anything goes wrong. I've also been looking into pain relief this week - Epidurals don't work for me due to a curve in my spine and they don't do them in the birthing center anyway, so I've been thinking about having the pethidine injection. There's a lot of pros/cons about this which makes me unsure, but it's pretty much the only option I have as I hate the gas and air.

Amelia and me have had a few conversations this week about what will happen when I go into labour and how she will be going to Nanny's for a sleepover and then coming to visit us in the hospital and she seems really excited about it! It's not long until he's here now so I feel that I can finally get her really excited about him being born.

  1. Ahhh so exciting!!! Ezra is a gorgeous name :)

Difficult decision about the pain relief but it sounds like you're really weighing up all the pros and cons which is all you can do really! xx

  2. Oh bless you, I hated being pregnant from the beginning and by 33 weeks I was in hell. I had a water birth second time around and besides gas and air the water took so much of the pain away. I so hope you get to have one, they are great! x

    1. I hated it the first time round but it's been much better this time! The midwife told me to just see how it goes and to try gas and air again and if I still don't like it and I need something then to go for the pethidine - We will see! And I'm so excited to try for a water birth again! Hope to get some good pics too!! xx
