- Personal slave - Amelia loves being helpful and I know that when Ezra is born she will be more than happy to help me get stuff done. Whether it's hanging the washing up, getting bits ready for Ezra's change or helping me pack the changing bags to go out, I know she will be willing to help. 3 year olds want to be independent, so by allowing Amelia to help me out - she will be proud of herself and happy that is able to be involved.
- Life saver - When you're overtired and your boobs hurt and the baby won't stop crying and the washing gets too much, what else is better than a cuddle from your child.. telling you that everything will be okay and that they love you? When I'm sad, Amelia recognises it and always comes and gives me a cuddle, and honestly, nothing could be more reassuring.
- Soulmate - Sometimes I feel that Amelia is lonely as she has nobody at home to play with, I feel that maybe she gets bored. Obviously once Ezra is born they can't 'play' as such, but I will be able to watch an unbreakable bond grow between them. Nothing will be more bliss than seeing my children look at each other with such a love in their eyes.
- Teacher - Amelia learnt from us. Ezra will learn from her too. Although she was quite a quick developer, it should be easier for Ezra to pick things up as he will have her to watch all day long. She will play with him in a way that an adult can't reenact, and he will learn things from her without her even realising.
What was the best thing for you about having a toddler by your side when having a newborn?
