Today I turned 21 weeks pregnant. Although only half way through, I’m starting to feel uncomfortable. When I bend down to put my socks on my belly gets in the way, and I can feel that I’m walking differently. The baby is roughly the size of a carrot, which doesn’t sound massive but I’m really starting to feel big. When I fell pregnant I was a size 8-10, and I would say now that I’m squeezing into a 12. I am yet to weigh myself but my pre-pregnancy weight was about 7.5st and when I was pregnant with my daughter I put on almost 3 stone, so I may be pretty large at the end of this. I’ve been trying to organise lists of everything that I need to get, I already have some white clothes, a crib and a carseat but that’s about it. I’m going with convenience this time, as I can’t put 100% of my time into the baby as Amelia is here too.
  • I’ve been looking at getting a snuzpod (although pricey.) It is a co-sleeper/bedside crib which the baby can go in until 6 months old, with an open side against my bed making it easy to feed during the night. It allows baby to feel closer to parent at night time to keep them settled.
  • Another thing that I will definitely be getting is swaddles, I had one of these with Amelia and she seemed very content in it. It makes sense to use them as for 1 they help baby to feel safe so they sleep better, and also who wants to re-wrap babyies blanket every 5 minutes when it comes undone? I will be packing these in my hospital bag, instead of taking lots of different outfits for baby to the hospital.
  • I am also interested in getting a car seat swaddle. It’s unsafe to wrap baby up in a blanket and then put  them into the car seat, and it seems like a lot of effort to unwrap baby, put them in the car seat and then tuck the blanket around them. A car seat swaddle fits into the car seat behind the straps, so you lay the baby on top of the blanket, strap the baby in and swaddle them over the straps. Seems very quick and easy, meaning I can also keep my eyes on Amelia if I have too.
