Buying for a new baby

I don't know if it's just me; but I LOVE buying new baby stuff!! I have spent hours and hours searching the internet for the cheapest prices and the best shops to buy from. I've always loved the boys clothes better than the girls and now I can actually admire all the cute baby boy stuff without it being weird!

Right now I am loving all of the plain bits. Pure white/baby blue clothes and I seem to be drawn to stars and stripes. I think this is because in my head I'm imagining taking photos of my boy and I know how cute and pure he will look. This being my second baby - I'm not going to go out and buy baby shoes, and a million baby grows because it's just not needed.

Some of the stuff I plan on buying is due to convenience;
Babasling - Breastfeed and use both hands at the same time (I can get the housework done/sort Amelia and the baby out at the same time.)
Swaddles - No unnecessary rewrapping with a blanket and encourages better sleep. I am in love with these, and although they are £20 each, I know they will be the best investment.
Co-sleeper - This is something that I want but am unsure if I will afford to buy, and considering I already have a moses basket, it's not a huge problem. A co-sleeper is basically a crib with 3 sides, so that it can go right up against your bed, making feeding at night so much easier. Also baby will feel safer as mum will be right next to him!

  • ONLY buy what you need, or what you know 100% you are going to use!
  • If you know people are going to buy you gifts, tell them what you need. The amount of clothes I got given when I had Amelia, half of them we're never worn. This will save you a lot of money and a lot of wasted money for others.
  • Search the web for the cheapest websites to buy products from, sometimes you can find ex-display products and also check reviews before buying something that you haven't had/used before.
  • Don't go buying loads of newborn or 'up to 1 month' clothing. Baby's grow SO quickly, it won't last 5 minutes. Buy 0-3 months and if you do want smaller bits, just buy a couple bits or a special outfit.
  • If you already have a child who is the same sex, reuse their clothes. This will save you so much money!!
