Third trimester essentials

The last 12 weeks of your pregnancy are the most straining, but there are lots of items that can make it a little easier for you, You are likely to be feeling 'like a whale' at this point and you're probably uncomfortable most of the time. Here are a few things that could help you survive your final trimester of your pregnancy.

  1. Gaviscon
You are likely to be at the peak of heartburn during this trimester, and I have always found that if I have really bad heartburn, this is best for it! I haven't had it that bad during this pregnancy and normally just drink a little bit of milk to get rid of it but if you are suffering then I really recommend using Gaviscon.
  2. Bio-oil
For most mums, this is a must. I'm not overly bothered about my stretch marks, but now is the time that most of your stretch marks will appear and Bio-oil is the top product as it doesn't just improve the appearance of stretchmarks but it also keeps your skin hydrated.
  3. Maternity bras/briefs
Your boobs are probably feeling really restricted in your push up bra, and your underwire may be cutting into you. Or maybe you are experiencing issues with wearing a thong at this stage? Maternity underwear is designed for comfort, to support yet allow your body to grow and breathe. The good thing about these is that they can be used once baby is born, the bra's can be used for feeding and the briefs are perfect for the first few weeks after giving birth.
  4. Pregnancy Pillow
By this stage your body is getting ready to be woken up by baby 3-4-5 times a night, so you waking up for the toilet or because baby is kicking you is probably a good thing and helping you get into the habit. But it's also hard being pregnant and tired, so if you are in need of a little support during the night, go and get yourself a maternity pillow. They are designed to support your bump so you can get super comfy.
  5. Nursing tops
You will probably find that your growing bump isn't squeezing into your tight t-shirts anymore, so you can buy nursing/maternity tops which are stretchy/looser so that they are more comfortable. Also with these you can use them after baby is born as they have clips on the straps, so you can easily unclip and feed.
  6. Maternity jeans
OR LEGGINGS! I am currently living in leggings, but only because none of my jeans fit me anymore. I am skinny jean obsessed and I'm slowly starting to feel a lot less me because I can't wear any. I will definitely be going out soon and buying myself some maternity skinny jeans, just because I'm pregnant - doesn't mean I can't dress how I want too!!
  7. Support belt
If you are still working at this stage, or standing for long periods of time - you will notice that gravity will pull baby to the bottom of your tummy and this can be really uncomfortable. These support bands and designed so that you don't have all the strain in the bottom of your belly or your back.
  8. Nipple pads
Have you started noticing that your nipples are leaking? All of that milk inside wants to come out ready for baby so you may start to notice that you are leaking a little bit. This probably won't be a problem until the end of the third trimester, but it's handy to keep a couple nipple pads in your bag - just incase of emergencies.
