With Paul starting a new job and working super long hours, Amelia is having to adjust to not seeing him as much. He works for 4 days in which she doesn't see him at all and then has 4 days off. She asks me when he is coming home and tells me how he's working so that we can buy presents for her birthday (cheeky!!)
This week when he was off work, we went for a walk around a little lake that's close to us.
This lake was once a fishery, but now is impossible to fish as it was sort of abandoned and the wildlife there has died out. They have been doing work there to make it a nicer place again and have apparently re-stocked the lakes. We have lived near this lake for 2 years now and we have visited a number of times and I have to admit that they have made a difference to the area, although it's still impossible to catch fish there.
Anyway while we were walking around we tried looking for some bits for Amelia to collect, but due to the time of year and lack of wildlife we didn't see much. All Amelia collected was a little feather which she kept on blowing and a few pine cones which she called hedgehogs! I was going to take a photo of her 'collection' when we got to the car but she got bored and threw them away. We also took Ezra's buggy with us, I have been using it a bit with Amelia as we have to walk 20 minutes to her nursery and she would get tired without it. It's an amazing all-terrain and considering I got it second hand, I'm very pleased with how well it good through all of the thick mud.
It's so nice to have a place where we can just go, where you don't bump into others and we can just walk around and talk while Amelia enjoys herself, copying the ducks quacking and avoiding all of the mud puddles. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to walk slowly around the lake but with no distractions, it's a place where nothing else matters and all of your worries just disappear. With the weather slowly getting nicer, we will definitely start taking Amelia there a lot more and hopefully as we go further into spring/summer she will see some baby animals and new flowers blossoming.
